What this Rising calculator returns

For an exact time, the result includes the Ascendant sign, degree and a simple traditional ruling-planet reference. The calculation uses the eastern direction where the local horizon meets the true ecliptic; it does not calculate houses. The audit trail shows place, coordinates, IANA zone, historical offset and UTC conversion.

Why exact time and location are essential

The Ascendant changes much faster than most planetary signs. Even a modest time difference can move the degree substantially or cross another sign, so a date-only answer would be misleading.

Why Rising results differ

The usual causes are an incorrect recorded time, a same-name city in another region, a historical timezone mismatch, a different zodiac system or a different eastern-horizon convention. Each relevant assumption is visible in the audit.
